In a world where disunity reigns, the Body and Bride of Christ, His Church, is to be the example of Unity. As such, unity has been a foundational principle that God has impressed on this church early in its inception. Philippians 2:2-3 says, “Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” As these verses address first, “we are to be of the same mind” in the essential doctrines we hold to. In all other matters we are committed to humbly “pursuing the things which make for peace and the building up of one another” (Romans 14:19). We believe that Christ is the Head of the Church, and if we (individually and corporately), in humility, pursue and submit to Him alone, God will be most glorified.
Identifying ourselves as a Christian church simply means that our central beliefs are founded on Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. Our hope, passion, and joy comes through the living out and sharing of the Gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ. In short, we believe that God sent His eternal Son, Jesus Christ, who was born of a virgin, lived as fully man, yet was fully God. He was without sin, but to fulfill His Father’s redemptive plan, Christ was crucified, bearing our sins. He died, was buried, and on the third day He rose from the dead, conquering death and hell for those called according to His will. With this knowledge we are to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) by making disciples of all nations. As we are obedient to that, Christ will build His Church.
Although this is a “church” in the biblical sense (God’s designation for the assembly of people called by His name), we believe that His desire is that we be in close personal Fellowship with one another. Koinonia is the Greek word that is used numerous times in the Bible for this type of fellowship. Our desire is that this Body be known for its genuine love and care for each other. When the world looks upon this church, they should see that as we are in fellowship (Koinonia) with Jesus Christ, we are also in fellowship with one another- as a true family of Believers devoted, honoring, living in harmony, accepting, serving, being kind and compassionate to, admonishing, encouraging, spurring towards love and good deeds, being hospitable, and loving one another. This is what true biblical fellowship should look like.
